Up and coming designer Spencer Versteeg will premiere his first full scale collection at Envision’s 10 Year Anniversary show this September. Spencer knew he wanted to be in fashion from an early age, and he’s always been drawn to what he calls the “fantasy of fashion.” While he says that friends and family can attest to his flair for the dramatic, Spencer also has a very clear vision of his evolving brand and the woman that he designs for.
Created for the woman who is living in the city and more importantly living her day to day life while wearing Versteeg’s garments, the collection gives new vitality to the oftentimes lackluster look of business apparel. Currently enrolled in the University of Minnesota’s Apparel Design program, Spencer drew on recent experience for inspiration in his Fall 2016 collection. While spending much time around female lawyers, Spencer decided that their work attire could use a pick me up. Taking the looks, which the designer notes rely heavily on traditional menswear fabrics, from drab to fab requires some imagination, and Versteeg is undoubtedly the designer for the job. In the lively collection that blooms on the runway, business fashion gets a new rep when sequins are introduced.
If genuine charisma and enthusiasm are any indication, Spencer Versteeg has a long career in fashion ahead of him. Catch Spencer Versteeg’s imaginative collection at Envision’s 10 Year Anniversary on September 24.
