This season, Kjurek will present a special, retrospectively-inspired collection on the runway at Envision Spring 2016. Kjurek is well-established in the local fashion scene, with founder Kimberly Jurek and co-owner Jennifer Chilstrom also running co-working Lyn Lake retail space, Showrooom. Looking back on past years and silhouettes, the designers behind the brand have taken inspiration from what has worked for Kjurek and re-centered their focus on the brand’s bohemian roots. Although this bohemian style runs deep within Kjurek’s designs, the brand is not without edge.
Keeping up a rock and roll flair, the line always keeps their designs fun and their fans guessing. This time around, leather fringe collars and other details will shake up the aesthetic of Kjurek’s collection, while classic silhouettes, such as the brand’s own butterfly dress, return to the spotlight. Embroidered accents, high quality genuine leather, and new expertise in hand dying fabrics will elevate the spring collection to new heights. Experimenting with new binding techniques as well as hand painting on silks and other fabrics, the collection remained fluid throughout the design process as each batch of dyed fabric influenced the direction of the work. A green silk surprise even worked its way into the line after especially great results.
As for how the collection has evolved since its conception, some might be happy to hear that the designers’ “obscene pom-pom vision” didn’t quite make it to the runway. Pom-pom fringe will make a specifically tasteful appearance this season alongside Kjurek’s popular hand cut fringe. Kjurek followers can look forward to a perfected display of evolved silhouettes from the brand’s past, and a newly elevated look for the future, to be presented on April 9 at Envision Spring 2016.
