Kara Gall of Ignite Models is a talented and tenured model, and she’s also one to admire for her drive, determination, and down to earth attitude. She recently shot spreads in Harper’s Bazaar Hong Kong, L’Officiel Thailand, and Elle Kazakhstan and has walked for designers like Marc Jacobs, Hood by Air, Desigual, No.21 and Antonio Marras, but the most important place for the internationally jet setting model remains her hometown of Webster, Wisconsin.
Calling from a New York City Airbnb apartment in the midst of New York Fashion Week glory and about a thousand miles away from Wisconsin, Kara will still share with a laugh that her nickname in school was “Bones.” Growing up, New York City did feel far away, but her drive and a love for staying busy had Kara googling Minneapolis modeling agencies right around her 19th birthday. Although she was completely new to the world of modeling and unsure what to expect, the young beauty was signing a contract within days.
For now, Kara’s life is in the big apple, and she’s thinking about putting down roots with a more permanent residence in one of her favorite areas in Brooklyn, Fort Greene. She hopes to add a little color to her chic, predominantly black wardrobe, although she acknowledges that black is the best for dressing sharp while traveling the world for 3 or even 6 months at a time. Kara loves coffee, and she loves to cook. She is incredibly close with her family back home and says that without them she wouldn’t be a model at all. Her mom is the first one she calls about good news and is the first to hear about bad news, too.
Kara Gall’s upbeat attitude and down to earth charm haven’t failed her yet, even in the industry where she says you can’t be sure you’re booked for a show until you are on the runway in sight of the lights and the cameras. When it’s not easy, the model’s ties to back home and her passion for her family’s restaurant, The Shop Bar and Grill, keep her head in the right place. She gives pretty sound advice as well, reminding younger girls in the industry to never compare themselves to other models, that this will only bog you down. As for Kara, nothing is keeping this model from going straight to the top.
