Envision Spring 2016 Music: Meet The Artists

Music and supporting local artists has always been a huge part of Envision, and this season, guests will enjoy the musical stylings of Holidae, Pytch Records and DJ Sarah White in the Public Functionary room. During the show, guests will enjoy original remixes from French artist and producer Monsieur Adi. Musical performances in the Public Functionary room will begin at 7pm for the VIP hour and then open up to GA guests at 8pm and during intermission. Keep reading to learn more about these artists and sample their music before hearing them at Envision on April 9!

Monsieur Adi is back for a third season as the runway DJ for Envision. Following a stint as the official DJ for Beyonce’s ‘Mrs. Carter’ tour, Adi grabbed the public’s attention for his remixes of pop hits like Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding and Bastille. He’ll be curating the music for the the runway, providing an exciting soundtrack for the show with his own original remixes.

Holidae garnered the Twin Cities’ attention following their win of the Star Tribune‘s 7th Annual Are You Local ‘Best New Bands’ contest. The pop group, which features Ryan Mach, Garrett Neal and Ashley Gold on vocals, has a pop sound, with a dark twist, as evidenced by their latest (and only available) single “Darkest Shade.” Their album comes out April 22, but in the meantime, you can get your Holidae fix in the Public Functionary Room.

Sarah White has performed internationally, collaborating with numerous artists including Yasin Bey, K-OS, Macy Gray, King Britt, J’Davey, and Manifest.  Sarah offers versatility with a multitude of experience including live band performances & DJ sets to vocal soundscapes & acoustic candlelit harmonies.  Sarah has independently released 2 solo albums, her voice is featured on record label releases from the midwest to Tokyo and she won Scion’s best electronic vocalist competition while living in NYC.  Recent projects include traveling to Cuba and recording in Havana, neon-soul band Shiro Dame, and the new EP, “Laughing at Ghosts.” You can sample her new EP and DJ-sets on SoundCloud.

Pytch Records has a slightly more unique backstory than your average band. Mostly because they are not a band, but rather a record label consisting of three artists (who also happen to be the owners of Pytch Records): Ryan Olcott (c. Kostra), Nikki Pfeifer (Devata Daun), and Garrison Grouse. And while they’re technically three individual artists, they are united by their penchant for “pitch deviant music with refined melody, soul and lo-fi,” and one SoundCloud profile, which showcases tracks from each of the members. Because Pytch Records is made up of multiple artists, listening to their music is like listening to a mixtape, a mashup of sounds and artists. Head over to SoundCloud to hear a sample of tracks before their performances in the Public Functionary room at Envision!
